2023 Dino Cup!!

The Dinos had some great times April 22 & 23 at the UCSC Dino Cup meet. On Saturday morning, the youngest swimmers had the privilege of being marshaled by UCSC's head coach Mike Blondal! Coach Mike not only organized the kids into their heats but offered some great racing tips as well! 

Swimmers raced their way to best times, more Festival qualifying times, exciting finishes, and lots of "firsts." This was the first meet for some, the first time swimming certain events for others, the first time receiving a disqualification and learning from that, the first time cheering for friends, the first time winning a ribbon, a prize, or a toy dinosaur!  

Big congratulations to Dino Cup Aggregate award winners: Ethan Nevatte and Thomas Girguis (11yrs), Lucas Gidrewicz (10 yrs), Luna Wei (10 yrs) Sophia Stenner (9 yrs), Penelope Holloway (9 yrs), Gabby Qiu (9 yrs), Simon Wagner (9 yrs), Kazeo Lee (9yrs), Anna Norkina (8 yrs), Howie Simonson(7 yrs) and Ari Shi (7yrs).

There was so much spirit vibrating the walls of the University pool on Saturday and Sunday: so much Dino pride, such great memory-making and experiencing competition in positive ways.  Thanks to the coaches, all the parents volunteering and cheering in the stands, and to older siblings of our young swimmers who showed up to help out with awards, as runners and at the prize table.

We are so proud of all the swimmers at this big meet! Congrats to all our DINOS!
