2025 Alberta Winter Champs

The 2025 Alberta Winter Championship was the first year of the new format of individual year racing and the meet proved to have a lot of exciting UCSC racing across all ages.

Out of the 86 UCSC swimmers in attendance, 37 were able to come home with medals for their Top 3 performances. Congrats to Jeffery Cheung, Ranumi Eashwarage, Kinnon Sen, Hayleigh Haines, Zach Vinuya, Finley Wong, Milena Cosic, Christine Zhou, Yueting Liang, Julia Norman, Hilary Guo, Alice Zhang, Joe Dong, Angelina Wang, Callie Cardiff, Meghan Sutherland, Lauren Meller, Jaden Gu, Kevin Kong, Maria Cosic, Rachel Wigginton, Luca Zaher, Thomas Girguis, Alexis Yuan, Tania Bakhshi, Chris Zhang, Miguel Lorenzo, Illia Artiukh, Mya Harrington, Sonia Bakhshi, Yikai Yang, Rosie Housman, Sophie Smith, Simon Gidrewicz, Stephanie Zhang, Benson Miles, and Sion Kim!

Other individual highlights from the meet were Ranumi and Meghan winning the High Point Aggregate awards for the 15 and 14 year old girl categories. Also 5 club records were broken by Meghan (1500 Free), Hayleigh (50 Breast), and Kinnon (50, 100, 200 Back).

At the end of the weekend the team brought home the banner as the Large Team Champions again this year, a streak that began well before the pandemic.
