TREX rocked the Winter Festival meet!

The young Dinos came together over the course of two exciting sessions at the Festival meet Jan 28 & 29 with shared experiences of fast swimming, loads of cheering, camaraderie on deck, a strong sense of team pride and a ton of fun.

We had a phenomenal number of best times, great racing, and noticeable improvement in flip turns, free and back. There were aggressive swims, good technique under pressure and lots of first experiences with finals swims in the 50 freestyles and 50 backstrokes.

TREX cheered their lungs out on Saturday for a swim off in the boys 50 free, with Marc Monar juuuuuuust missing (0.04 sec) 48th spot (there are 6 heats of finals in 50 free and 50 back at Festival) with a massive best time - but then getting another swim anyway as the first alternate. It pays to stick around!!

Mark Babak is our first TREX swimmer under 40 seconds in the 50 backstroke this season. UCSC had four of the top 8 fastest nine year old girls in the 50 Fly, we went 1-2-3 in the nine year old girls 100 IM, we had 5 TREX swimmers (boys and girls) under 1:20 in the 100 freestyle, and some amazing relay performances. These are just a few examples of the exciting moments we all had a chance to experience thanks to our brave and mighty TREX swimmers!

Okotoks did a fantastic job hosting a well-run meet, and we coaches are sending a big thank you to all of the parents for supporting your young athletes. Every success, challenge and disappointment is an opportunity for them to learn & improve. Sport is an excellent way to integrate those experiences. Well done TREX Festival swimmers!!
