Dinos at World Cup

November 10, 2022

Six Dinos traveled to Toronto to catch the Canadian leg of the FINA World Cup, October 28-30.

Our swimmers wasted no time making their mark and on day one produced lifetime-best performances, resulting in records and second swims.

Aiden Norman had a fantastic first swim with a 1:53.66 in his 200m Backstroke. This swim marks the fastest 200m Backstroke for a 16-year-old Canadian ever. It secured his spot in finals where he finished 6th overall.

Lorne Wigginton, Kamyrn Cannings, Stephen Calkins, and Richie Stokes all kicked off the meet with personal bests, with Kamryn's swim advancing her to finals and finishing the day 6th overall in the 200m Butterfly.

Day two brought another sweep of best times for Wigginton, Calkins, Cannings, Norman, and Stokes. Stephen Calkins had the best placing of the day finishing 9th with a new club record in the 100m Freestyle.

On the final day, Wigginton had a fantastic 400m IM in the morning, landing him 9th overall, and a broadcast-worthy swim at night in the 800m Freestyle where he swam to 3rd in his heat and 5th overall.

Kamryn Cannings had one last final, finishing her meet 7th overall in the 100m Butterfly, while Calkins, Stokes, and Norman all ended off the meet with big swims - Calkins dropping 4s in his 200 free.

These Dinos contributed to a great showing of Canadian talent over the three-day meet. Our athletes showcased the skills, drive, and determination that are going to carry them through to some more stellar performances this season, we can't wait to see what's in store!
