Holiday Classic 2022 Recap

December 22, 2022

Last weekend, Dinos swimmers had a great and exciting time at the Holiday Classic Meet. It's the peak competition of the winter season.

The medals motivated the Dinos to be more enterprising, the cheers and encouragement filled the pool deck, and they tried hard to achieve their goals. Through the competition, the Dinos set new goals with confidence toward the new training season.

TREX

The TREX squads had their share of difficulties, stress, and DQs over the weekend at the Holiday Classic, but those were mightily outweighed by SO MANY FANTASTIC SWIMS.  The TREX squads cumulatively had three hundred and forty-four personal best times swum over the four sessions of the meet. Add FOUR new Festival qualifiers to that, plus a whole lot of fun, fast, and some surprising swims, great camaraderie in the bleachers, and lots of learning.  TREX swimmers are learning from their experiences and making big improvements.  Most of the TREX swimmers had an opportunity to swim IMs and/or 200 freestyles and their dedication to training well really shined in their ability to pace races well and finish strong.  We saw great turns, improved starts, and again, well swum races.

As always, we are grateful for all of the volunteers who were officiating, for taking care with the younger swimmers and helping us help them learn the protocols of a meet.  Well done Holiday Classic swimmers.  We are really proud of you!

12 STREAM

The 12 stream had a great race at the Holiday Classic meet. The swimmers achieved many best times, championship standards, and medals. Even more importantly, they learned how to deal with the pressure, challenges, and rules of a swim meet. The older swimmers try to strive for greater self-breakthrough.

REGIONAL

This weekend regional had a great time at Holiday Classic. Saturday we had a few athletes dealing with illness and injuries but they gave it their all. They were able to turn things around and perform extremely well on Sunday. Sunday morning was full of strong races and the afternoon was full of best times. The regional athletes' attention to technical details in their races is admirable. We also had one athlete go to JP Fiset and she did a fantastic job. She was able to get several best times, even in events she had improved on at our last meet. This was the perfect way to finish off our 2022 season. Well done regional!
