Lethbridge Meet Wrap Up

May 8, 2023

Lethbridge meet – Coulee Kids Dentistry Spring Challenge, May 5-7

The team departed from Calgary on two buses on Friday. The meet was mandatory team travel and the group consisted of close to sixty swimmers. The meet had four sessions and everyone competed in 8 individual events plus, for most of the swimmers, relays on Saturday.

The placing of the meet was done in three distinct age groups, 11 and 12 years old, 13 and 14 years old, and seniors, but the racing was combined, allowing everyone to race at their competitive level.

It was impressive to see the Dinos often attacking the racing from the start and able to finish strong. Although the meet was an in-season meet, many swimmers swam their best times or really close to their best times.  That is a good indicator that in the next several meets everyone will swim their best and fastest.

The trip schedule was busy and swimmers were well-behaved, both in the hotel and in the pool. As always there was camaraderie on deck and the swimmers did a great job cheering, coming up with new ways to do cheers, and having fun.

On behalf of all the swimmers and coaches, I would like to thank all the chaperones who made the trip a great one.

Thank you and we are looking forward to more racing and travel meets in the future.

Coach Jan
