Spring Start Up - Meet Recap

October 26, 2023

The UCSC Spring Start Up, the first meet after spring break, showed the strength of the whole club. After the great performances at Canadian Trials and Westerns, the top swimmers were absent, allowing the younger groups to show their speed and competency.

The Spring Start Up is the first meet leading up to the summer season. It was great to see the majority of swimmers swimming best times or very close to them, competing well, and in general, showing good technique and habits.  Among all the great swims at this meet, there was one new club record in 10&under girls 100 backstroke, Alexis Yuan swam 1:15.98.  Congratulations to Alexis!

It is always great to start a new cycle with fast swims, knowing that with more training, the best times will be shattered through the remaining meets.

Based on my observations, swimmers at the meet had a great time, focusing on their races, but also having fun hanging out with their friends during the meet.

UCSC is a very strong club, and with the enthusiasm and hard work of the swimmers, the guidance of great coaches, and parental support, the future looks bright.
