Steve Brown Memorial 2025
The Steve Brown Memorial Invitational marks the final ‘big stage’ competition of the year for a number of our swimmers, and it was full of surprises for the athletes and coaches alike. Friday started off with our distance events and timed final session in the evening, which gave the opportunity for some of our younger swimmers to race events they have never done before. With plenty of best times at the conclusion of Friday’s events, we were gearing up for two more days of racing… rain or shine.
Unsure about whether we were racing inside MNP or out in Calgary’s brand new pools on the Ring Road, our swimmers were ready to rip it up either way. It seemed like every 10 minutes officials were stopping by our coaches table to bring more medals, ribbons and big smiles to share. This meet also hosted mixed-gender relays, which gave many of our swimmers opportunities to race with teammates they have never been on a relay team with before, and everyone involved performed phenomenally. Big best times, new Provincial Trials qualifiers and plenty of learning experiences were had that can be carried into the 2025-2026 season to make every season better than the last.
Thank you to NCSA for hosting such an amazing meet, and whether our athletes are competing in July or not, we still have the most important competition of the year coming this Wednesday right here at home, and you don’t want to miss it.
