VPSC Winter Invitational 2025
The National Group of the University of Calgary Swim Club touched down at UBC for the VPSC Invitational (December 5–7), bringing 30 of our top age-group athletes to finish the fall cycle — BRAVE and BOLD was the theme and it showed up in every session of the meet. The team competed with confidence and great team spirit all weekend, representing UCSC with professionalism both in and out of the pool.
Our swimmers rewrote record books at every level. Laon Kim (17) continued his impressive progression, setting National Records in the 100 Free and 200 Free, along with Provincial Records in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, and 100 Fly. Kinnon Sen (15) added a Provincial Record in the 50 Back, while Callie Cardiff (14) set a new Provincial Record in the 400 IM. Ranumi Eashwarage (16) joined the list with a Provincial Record in the 50 Free.
The momentum carried into our relays, highlighted by the 13–14 Girls 4×100 Medley Relay of Alice Zhang, Callie Cardiff, Alexis Yuan, and Tania Bakhshi, who raced their way to a new Provincial Record.
There were so many new club records throughout the meet that we’ll be combing through results to make sure none are missed. It was an inspiring weekend, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication, resilience, and team spirit shown by every athlete.
A big thank-you goes out to the “A&A Chaperoning Services” team of Anita Cheung and Andrea Sutherland, who kept the athletes well-rested, fuelled, and organized all weekend long!
