Please find below the details and registration links for the upcoming Mental Performance Series (MPS). All individuals attending these sessions MUST register for each session using the respective links below to receive the Zoom link to join the meeting.

 

Although the athlete session topics will be the same, the content will be tailored to ensure it is age-appropriate and relevant for the age groups indicated.

 

Please be advised, to ensure a safe and comfortable space for open participation, these sessions will not be recorded, and there will be no presentation distributed after the session.

 

13&U Athlete Session #1 – Monday October 5, 2026 @7pm

  • TOPIC: Mental Wellness for Youth Athletes
    • This session will address foundational mental wellness priorities for athletes, including time management, sleep hygiene, check-ins, and external supports.
    • Outcome: By the end of this session, athletes will be able to immediately start implementing tools to improve their well-being, and will be able to perform a quick overall assessment of their current mental wellness state.

14&O Athlete Session #1 – Tuesday October 6, 2026 @7pm

  • TOPIC: Mental Wellness for Youth Athletes
    • This session will address foundational mental wellness priorities for athletes, including time management, sleep hygiene, check-ins, and external supports.
    • Outcome: By the end of this session, athletes will be able to immediately start implementing tools to improve their well-being, and will be able to perform a quick overall assessment of their current mental wellness state.

13&U Athlete Session #2 – Tuesday November 17, 2026 @7pm

  • TOPIC: Competition Preparation & Emotional Regulation
    • Learn the foundation of how to prepare for a competition ahead. This session will go through the basics of emotional regulation: what happens when we’re nervous/excited/anxious for an event, and what can we do about it?
    • Outcome: Athletes will learn how to first become aware of their current state, and then work to manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviours for a more conducive race experience.

14&O Athlete Session #2 – Monday November 16, 2026 @7pm

  • TOPIC: Competition Preparation & Emotional Regulation

Parent Session #1 – Tuesday September 22, 2026 @7pm

  • TOPIC: Being a Supportive Sport Parent
    • Parents will receive an overview of Swim Alberta’s Culture of Excellence, the quadrennial plan, and learn how to best support their athlete through training and competition.
    • Outcome: Parents will learn tools on how to best manage emotionally charged events such as the ‘car ride home’, how parents influence their child’s behaviours, and the recommended “do’s and don’ts” to best support managing the season alongside of their athlete.
