From Our Head Coach

The University of Calgary Swim Club (UCSC) is a 500 swimmers strong club. UCSC provides a quality competitive swimming program for the youth of our community and  provides world-class training opportunities to those who choose to pursue a high performance path in swimming. Our mandate is to achieve excellence at all levels, whether that be coaching a swimmer to go off the blocks for the very first time, their first Provincial Championships, or coaching a National or International level swimmer.

UCSC has a rich history of excellence of developmental swimming as well as Olympic medals. Our alumni include swimming greats such as Mark Tewksbury, Curtis Myden, and Tom Ponting.

Hard work and deliberate practice is the corner stone of any successful activity and this is the basis of our program. UCSC’s philosophy of swimmer development is delivered by a team of over 30 CSCTA certified coaches that follow Swim Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Model.

UCSC is a swim club of swimmers, parents, and alumni. I invite and encourage you to get involved in the club for a healthy life for all. UCSC is a member driven swim club and relies on the help and support from our member parents to operate the club.

I wish success for all of our athletes during this season and beyond. I invite you all to embrace our mandate of “swimming to first: achieving excellence at all levels”, as we focus our attention on developing and delivering programs that will provide every opportunity for our swimmers, regardless of ability, to reach for their own stars.
