National Development Coach

Nick Lapointe

Since 2016, Nick Lapointe has been a dedicated supporter of Calgary Swimming both at the pool and in the gym.

Nick’s expertise and experience in strength and conditioning alongside his dedication to coaching and passion for swimming provide a unique perspective that dynamically supports all athletes.

Originally from Ontario, Nick swam for 15 years – his final four as part of Laurentian University’s Varsity team while studying Sport and Physical Education. He then continued his education by pursuing a post-graduate certificate in Exercise Science. Nick is now a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and an NCCP Level 2 Certified Coach.

Although it was a role with U of C’s Active Living that initially brought Nick to Calgary, he quickly found his way to the deck. Nick became UCSC’s Lead Strength Coach in 2016 while spending four years as a volunteer coach with the U of C Varsity Swim Team. In 2019, Nick acted as Head Coach of the Golden Dolphins Summer Swim Club, coaching athletes of all ages and abilities, and leading several swimmers to break club and regional records. Nick joined UCSC’s full-time coaching staff in 2022 and has since been the driving force of UCSC’s dryland programs, while also leading his group of senior athletes at the pool.
